What are library lockers? |
Library lockers are secure lockers that you can open using your library card. You can request items from the library catalogue to pick up at the lockers or you can browse and borrow new items without having to request them. The lockers are located in the Gellert Community Centre. |
How do I get items sent to the lockers? |
When you are placing a hold in the library catalogue, select Library Lockers - Gellert Centre as your pick-up location. Items are delivered to the lockers twice each week. |
Can I use the lockers if I don't have my library card with me? |
Yes, you can manually enter your library card number on the touchscreen. You will be asked to enter your library PIN to verify your account. The process is similar to the self-service checkout kiosks within our branches. |
Can I return library items at the lockers? |
Yes, just follow the prompt on the screen and the return slot will open in order to return items. Please note that it may take several days for the items to be cleared from your account, but they will be checked in as of the day you returned the items to the lockers. |
Are there items that cannot be picked up or returned at the lockers? |
Anything borrowed at the Library Lockers can be returned there. Larger items available at the library branches, such as Personal Flotation Devices, Escape Room Kits, and other large objects cannot be picked up at the lockers. |
Can I browse books at the lockers? |
Yes, there are ten Browse and Borrow lockers with items available to checkout on-the-go. |
How will I know when my hold is ready for pick-up? |
It takes a bit of time for library staff to transport your on-hold items to the Library Lockers. Once your items are ready to be picked up, you will be sent an email letting you know. Items may appear as ready for pick-up in your library online account before they arrive at the Gellert Community Centre. Please wait until you have received the email before going to pick up your items. If your account is currently set up for phone notification and you plan to use the Library Lockers at the Gellert Community Centre regularly, please contact the library and ask to change your notification settings to email. |
How long do I have to pick-up my holds? |
You have between 3 to 7 days from the date of the notification to pick-up your hold(s). Your pick-up date is listed on your hold notification email. Holds that are not picked up within that time will be returned to the library. |
I returned my items at the locker, but still see them on my card. When will they be checked in? |
Items returned at the Library Lockers first have to be transported back to the Georgetown Branch, and therefore may not be checked in for up to a week. Please note that they will be checked in according to the day you returned your items to the lockers. If materials remain on your library account for longer than a week, please contact the library at 905-873-2681 or email at askus@haltonhills.ca. |
