Backyard explorer kits
Have an adventure in your own Backyard! Our themed environmental science kits have something for all learning styles and explore topics such as Gardening, Birding, Weather and Bugs! These kits include everything you need to observe, explore, and learn about the world around us. Kits are suitable for children 6+. Search our Catalogue for all the Backyard Explorer Kits.
Bike locks
You can borrow a bike lock by visiting a service desk in the Acton or Georgetown Branch. With your Library Card you can request the use of a bike lock for one day. Visit our Bike Welcome Centre page for more information. 
Cognitive care kits

Cognitive Care Kits help support the skills and abilities of people living with a cognitive impairment from Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, or Huntington’s disease. The collection of fourteen unique kits contains a variety of prepared games, puzzles, creative activities and books that help exercise the mind, retain skills and encourage social engagement.

First-time borrowers must attend an Introduction to Cognitive Care Kits session. During this training each item is explained and demonstrated. After completing the session, you may borrow kits without attending another information session.

Discover together kits

These great activity kits will have you learning and creating in new ways that spark creativity, while keeping you challenged, engaged, and learning for hours! Each Discover Together Kit contains everything you need to have fun and be creative. Recreation and Parks has teamed up with us to offer residents the opportunity to borrow a variety of fun activities and inspiring games to play with family and friends. All family recreation activities are listed in our Catalogue.

Hiking the hills backpack kits

Hiking the Hills Backpack Kits were created in partnership with Halton North Peel Naturalist Club and the Bruce Trail Conservancy – Halton Chapter.

Home theatre collection - watch or make movies
Create the perfect atmosphere by choosing from a variety of options which include a hi-res projector, DVD or Blu Ray player, a 40” table-top screen, and portable speakers. iPads to go

iPad Pros are available to borrow to any Halton Hills Public Library card holder who is 18 years or older for a period of 21 days. They are pre-loaded with Library Apps, including LinkedIn Learning, Libby, CloudLibrary, GoodReads, Hoopla and Freegal. Moccasin Identifier education kit
Created by Carolyn King and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, the Moccasin Identifier Kit is a teaching tool for truth and reconciliation focused on treaty relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. Each kit includes four Moccasin Identifier stencils that reflect the surrounding Indigenous communities. All Moccasin Identifier Education Kits can be found in our Catalogue.

Personal flotation devices (Available May - September)

Recreation and Parks has teamed up with us to offer Personal Flotation Devices (PFD) to keep you safe in the water all summer long! Personal Flotation Devices are available at the Acton and Georgetown branches for infants, children, teens, and adults.

In order to borrow a PFD you must be over the age of 18 years old and sign a waiver. Browse our Catalogue for all Personal Flotation Devices

Pickleball and tennis (Available May - October)

In collaboration with Recreation and Parks, we are now offering pickleball paddle and ball sets, tennis racket and ball sets, and portable nets. All recreation activities are listed in our Catalogue.

Seniors' fitness kits

Recreation and Parks has teamed up with us to offer Seniors’ Fitness Kits to keep you active and moving all summer long! Each kit contains: Active Easy duffel bag, 2 x 2.5 pound dumbbells, green resistance band, mini band and purple ball. Walking poles (Available May - October)

WiFi to go (mobile hotspots)

You can borrow an Internet hotspot to access the Internet from home. Connect up to 15 devices at one time, with battery life lasting up to 8 hours. The portable device is compact to carry home and makes staying connected easier than ever. Borrowers must be at least 18 years old.
