Art at the Library: Children’s and Youth Art Exhibit 

The Halton Hills Public Library and Helson Gallery are proud to present the third annual Art at the Library: Children's and Youth Art Exhibit! Enter your drawings, paintings, sculptures, and collage for a chance to win a $50 gift cardAll art submitted to the Art at the Library installation will be displayed at the Georgetown branch from October 7 – October 22.

  • Submissions accepted: Saturday, September 16 Sunday, October 1, 2023
  • Winners announced: Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. 
  • Grand Opening of ExhibitSaturday, October 7, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. 
  • Exhibit open during library hours: Saturday, October 7 Sunday, October 22, 2023 
Submission Guidelines
  • All art must be the artist’s original work. 
  • All mediums are accepted. 
  • All artists submitting must consent to have their artwork photographed or reproduced in library advertisements. 
  • Physical work must be submitted with a form at the library. Forms are available at the Service Desk.
  • Electronic submissions may be a maximum of 2 MB and can be submitted as the following filetypes: pdf, doc, docx, xls, xlsx, jpg, jpeg, gif, pngtifNo USB drives or file transfers can be accepted.  
Age Categories
  • Preschool – Senior Kindergarten 
  • Grade 1-3 
  • Grades 4-6
  • Grades 7-8 
  • Grades 9-10 
  • Grades 11-12 
Judging
The judges are artists, community members, illustrators, gallery curators, and art educators from the Halton Hills CommunityEach judge will score the artwork based on composition and expression. The judges' decisions are final. 
Winners
  • Winners receive a $50 gift card. 
  • Winners will be announced at the Grand Opening of the Art at the Library Exhibit on Saturday, October 7 at 10:00 a.m. All artists are encouraged to attend.

Author events
We host multiple events throughout the year that highlight authors and their work. The biggest event is our annual One Book, One Halton Hills Author Visit which brings a featured author to our community for a speaker event and book signing. Local writers are invited to attend our monthly Writers Circle or participate in our Local Author Showcase. Browse our Event Calendar for dates and times. 
Frank Black gallery
The Library's art collection includes close to 500 pieces by respected artist Frank Charles Black. You can also visit the online curated collection.
OnScreen movies
The John Elliott Theatre screens films from the Toronto International Film Festival. You can purchase tickets to upcoming movies in-person at the Georgetown Branch of the Halton Hills Public Library or online through the Box Office. Visit the John Elliott Theatre's website for Box Office hours and the names of upcoming movies. Films shown as part of the OnScreen series are available to watch at home by searching the library's catalogue.
