Halton Hills Councillor and Library Board Member, Alex Hilson, Elected Incoming President of OLBA
Halton Hills, ON – March 27, 2025
Halton Hills Public Library (HHPL) is thrilled to announce that Councillor and Library Board member Alex Hilson has been elected incoming President of the Ontario Library Board’s Association, a division of the Ontario Library Association (OLA).
The OLBA represents public library board members on issues relating to their areas of responsibility. The work of the Association is primarily to build a professional development program that is responsive to issues shared by library boards across Ontario. The Association provides information materials and training forums for advancing board development. OLBA is recognized as a centre of excellence for the governance of public library boards.
Currently serving as the 2025 Vice President, Councillor Alex Hilson will assume the role of President in 2026, marking the final year of his three-year term on the Ontario Library Boards Association Council.
"I am honoured to step into the role of incoming President of the Ontario Library Boards Association and to continue advocating for strong, effective public library governance across the province," says Councillor Alex Hilson and Library Board member. "Public libraries are the heart of our communities, and supporting library boards with the resources and knowledge they need to succeed is essential. I look forward to working with fellow board members to champion the vital role libraries play in education, economic development, and community well-being."
The OLBA operates independently from the government and represents library boards and trustees in the political arena. Due to its unique position within the Ontario Library Association, OLBA has the unparalleled opportunity to obtain the support of all library interests in Ontario.
