Join your library for Ontario Public Library Week (OPLW), October 16-22 by exploring something new, discovering endless possibilities, and celebrating the vital role your library plays in our vibrant community.

The One Card, One Million Possibilities theme celebrates all that your library has to offer and how we can enrich the lives of everyone in Halton Hills. Public libraries are committed to literacy and life-long learning, reducing barriers, providing safe and inclusive spaces, and offering a variety of opportunities for creative expression. In honour of OPLW, we are offering the following programs:

Perfect Picture
Make your products Picture Perfect! In celebration of Small Business Week and Ontario Public Library Week, the Town of Halton Hills has partnered with the Halton Region Small Business Centre and the Halton Hills Public Library to bring you, Picture Perfect: DIY Product Photography Event! This program is open to any Halton Hills small business looking to try their hand at product photography to produce high-quality product shots for their website and social channels!  Each session will include a private room equipped with lightbox and photography equipment – we encourage small business owners to also bring along their smartphone to take photos with ease. The Digital Main Street Coordinator, Natalie, will be there to assist you with any photography questions and provide some tips and tricks on how to produce digital content. Business Advisors from the Halton Region Small Business Centre will be available for drop-in questions to answer any of your small business inquiries. 1-hour studio space sessions are available Tuesday, October 18 from 1pm – 4pm, and Thursday, October 20 from 9:30am - 1:30pm. LinkedIn Learning – Professional Development
As part of Small Business Week and Ontario Public Library Week we invite you to learn new skills and upgrade your current knowledge with this extensive online education service. Choose from over 16,000 courses with more than 144,000 video tutorials taught by experts in the field. All courses are free with your library card! Children’s Drop-In Programs
Don’t miss out on our fall programs like Baby Rhyme and Romp and Family Storytime. Programs are available at both the Acton and Georgetown Branches. Visit HHPL’s online calendar for branches, dates and times.

New Gaming Laptops
Check out one of the Library’s new gaming laptops! Available starting October 17th. These laptops are for in library use only and are loaded with every gaming software that you can ever want! Try out a new game on Xbox Live or Epic Games, log into your Roblox account and play with your friends or play another game with your friends over Discord. These laptops are designed for gaming and are just waiting for people to try them out in the Library. Drop by and tell us what you think! For more information, visit HHPL’s computer website page.

Video Game Club
Show off your gaming skills at the Georgetown Branch! Each week, we will play a different video game on either the Nintendo Switch or PlayStation 5. For children aged 10 to 13 years old. Join us for the final tournament where you can compete for the ultimate prize! Visit HHPL’s online calendar to learn more.

3D Printing Workshop
In this workshop, participants will be certified on the 3D printer and then use a variety of software and online applications to design their own creations and print it. For ages 13 years and up. Visit HHPL’s online calendar to register.

TIFF OnScreen at the John Elliott Theatre
Join us for TIFF films OnScreen at the John Elliott Theatre. Each month we feature an award-winning film that will be sure to entertain and delight you. Tickets are $12 per person and are available through the John Elliott Theatre Box Office. Visit HHPL’s online calendar to view the line up.

Senior Connectors
If you’re a senior in our community who has questions about transportation and driving, community resources, health services or housing, then stop by Halton Hills Public Library and speak with a Senior Connector who is educated in senior support services. Game Time – Alzheimer’s Society
This engaging drop-in program is an opportunity for persons living with dementia and their guest to have some fun playing a variety of games. From table games to small group matches, this is pure fun time in a dementia safe environment. CMHA WRAP: Wellness Recovery Action Plan Program
Are you ready to make positive changes in the way you feel and react to life’s stressors? Register today for this informative 8-week program to create a plan specifically for your needs that will allow you to support your wellness in ways that work for you. Registration required.
