Drop-in Crafts
Stay busy after the holidays and drop-in to the library for fun winter themed crafts. Friday, December 27 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Family Storytime
Join us at the Acton Branch for a drop-in Family Storytime! No registration is required. Saturday, December 28 from 10:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
SPECIAL PRESENTATION: Electric Tesla Light Show in the JET
Tickets are available at the John Elliott Theatre (JET). Families are invited to enjoy this electrifying performance inspired by legendary scientist Nikola Tesla on Saturday December 28 from 2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. Presented by Fantasy Bubble Show and recommended for ages eight and up. Please note, this presentation contains flashing lights.
In this interactive presentation, you will discover:
- Catcher (smallest Tesla coil) - demonstration and interaction with children
- Large Tesla coil - demonstration and interaction
- Plasma ball
- Levi Stick
Sunday Drop-in: Board Games
Stop by the library on Sunday, December 29 from 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. to play your favourite board games or learn a new one! For children aged 0-12 and their caregivers. Available at both branches.
Snowless Snowmen – Georgetown Branch
No snow outside to build a snowman? No problem! Come to the library where we will be building snowmen without snow! We have the supplies you need. How many snowmen can you make? Monday, December 30 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
VR at the Library
Stop by the library and test out HHPL's Meta Quest Pro VR headset! This program is for ages 10 and up. Children aged 10-12 must have a caregiver or guardian sign a permission form to play. Monday, December 30 from 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Countdown to New Years
Ring in 2025 early! Drop-in and enjoy some fun activities and celebrate the coming new year. Tuesday, December 31 at 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Cocoa Club
Enjoy some cozy hot chocolate as we read aloud from a children's novel. Mindfulness activities are available while you listen. Thursday, January 2 from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., at both branches.
Teen Hub
Teens! Looking for a spot to unwind & do something creative? Our Teen Lounge will be hosting Drop-In Sessions with small creative activities. During these sessions one of our Library Associates will be sitting where you can ask questions about library programming, electronic resources, or just general questions about books you’re interested in. Thursday, January 2 at the Georgetown Branch from 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Teen Advisory Council
Drop-in and earn volunteer hours while helping plan new teen events, testing new tech and checking out new books, movies, TV shows and video games! Teens in grade 8-12 can sign-up for TAC by filling out our online form. Thursday, January 2 at the Georgetown Branch from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Storytime and Stuffie Sleepover
Bring your favourite Stuffie for Storytime, then let them have their first sleepover! Follow along on our social media for updates on the Stuffie antics. Pick them up the next day and hear what they were up to. Drop off your Stuffie between 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Friday and pick them up between 9:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Acton and Georgetown Branches.
