Join our award-winning Summer Reading Club!
Halton Hills Public Library has won second place in the 2024 TD Summer Reading Club Library Awards. Sponsored by TD Bank Group, this national award honours libraries that deliver creative and effective summer reading programs for children.
TD Summer Reading Club is Canada’s biggest summer reading program. It helps children explore the fun of reading and maintain their literacy skills outside of the classroom. Regular reading over the summer is known to give children a strong start in the new school year. Joining the TD Summer Reading Club is an easy way to keep children engaged in learning and discovery, with themed activities designed to create a lifelong love of reading.
This year’s Summer Reading Club kicks off with two events on Saturday, June 14. In Georgetown, the festivities run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. during the Georgetown Farmers Market. Enjoy cultural performances in the Plaza by the Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton Steelband and the Hawaiian Dance Company. Families can also play games from around the world and travel the globe with the library’s green screen. The celebration continues in Acton from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a special presentation by Folklore Music and Arts featuring musical instruments from around the world.
