March 11-19 is March Break at your local library! Join us for a host of exciting activities such as movie night, fort building, 3D Printing workshops, and even video game tournaments. Here is the full list:
Super Smash Bros. Tournament
Join us for a Smash Bros. tournament, and compete for a prize! Hosted by Georgetown's Teen Advisory Council, this event is open to teens in grades 8-12. This is a lock-in tournament, so come to the library after hours and show us that you're the reigning champ in Smash Bros.! This program will be at the Georgetown Branch from 6-8:30 p.m. Registration is required.
3D Printing Workshop
In this creative 3D printing workshop, teens will use a variety of software and online applications to design their own creations, then print it! Register to participate on either March 15 or 17 at the Georgetown Branch (2:30 - 4:30 p.m.).
Tinker Time
Discover all kinds of educational gadgets and gear! Get inventive with Ozobots, Spheros, Snap Circuits and more at the Halton Hills Public Library! Drop in on March 15 (Georgetown) or 16 (Acton) between 1:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., no registration necessary. Recommended for children aged 8-11. Visit HHPL’s online calendar for more information.
Movie Night
On Monday, March 14 at 6:30 p.m., join us in the John Elliott Theatre at the Georgetown Library and Cultural Centre for a free family viewing of Disney's Encanto! A movie about a family who lives in a charmed place in Columbia called the Encanto. The magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift, but it is discovered that the magic of the Encanto is in danger. Visit HHPL’s online calendar.
Family Fort Night
Bring your blankets, pillows and stuffies, and build a fort on March 15 (Acton Branch) and March 16 (Georgetown Branch). Build your fort with blankets in the library stacks and snuggle up to read a book with your friends and family. This is a drop-in program from 5 – 8 p.m. and no registration is required. Stuffy Sleepover
Drop your stuffed animal off at the Acton or Georgetown Branch for a sleepover! Then, follow along on our social media for updates on the stuffy antics and see what they get up to when no one is watching! Pick up your tired stuffies the next day during operating hours. Acton sleepover - March 15. Georgetown sleepover - March 17. Stuffies can be dropped off between 5 and 8pm. Visit HHPL’s online calendar to learn more.
Mario Kart Tournament
Ride the Rainbow Road to victory! Match up against your friends and battle it out on the track to see who the reigning Mario Kart champion is, on our new Nintendo Switch! This fun tournament will take place on March 18 from 1 – 4:30 p.m.
Family Feud Trivia Challenge
We surveyed 100 people in Halton Hills. Can you guess what they said? Take the Family Feud Trivia Challenge on Kahoot and see what you score! Available throughout all of March Break. Get the entire family involved and challenge each other!
Nintendo Switch Gaming Console
Try the Library’s new Nintendo Switch system! Challenge your friends and family and show them you’ve got game. Use the traditional game controller or switch it up and try the Nunchuck controller; it’s up to you. This device is available for patrons to play in the Children’s section of both branches, on a first come first serve basis. Will you be the reigning champ?
PS5 Gaming Console
The PlayStation 5 console by Sony is the newest in the PlayStation game series. PS5 features include a DualSense controller, as well as compatibility with PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR games. This system is available for patrons to use in the Children’s in the Georgetown Branch and in the Teen Lounge of the Acton Branch, on a first come first serve basis. Game on!

Our themed environmental science kits have something for all learning styles and explore topics such as Gardening, Birding, Weather and Bugs! - Create your own Home Theatre! Borrow from a variety of items that include a hi-res projector, DVD or Blu Ray player, a 40” table-top screen, and portable speakers, to create your family’s own personalized home theatre. Borrow great movies from us too!
- Stop by one of our branches and pick up a Grab and Go Kit and create something fun at home!
- We offer countless board games and puzzles that you can enjoy in branch or borrow to tinker with at home.
