The Halton Hills FanFest is an annual event that celebrates our love of fandoms. A fandom is a community of people who share a passion for a piece of media, be it a movie, television series, book series, video game, a band or a performer. With events like virtual reality, trivia, superhero storytime, crafts and cosplay, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

  • Retro Games Drop-In - April 15th, from 1-4pm (in Acton)
  • Board Games Drop-In - April 22nd, from 1-4pm (in Acton)
  • Fandom Trivia at the Furnace Room Brewery on April 28th at 7pm.

Cosplay contest

Cosplay is the practice of dressing up as a character from a movie, book, or video game. On the day of FanFest, there will be a cosplay contest for youth and adults. Check the schedule of events to know when the cosplay judging and contest will take place.

Halton Hills FanFiction Contest

Submissions for the FanFiction Contest are now closed.

FanFiction is the art of writing fiction using characters and settings from another existing work of fiction. These works of fanfiction can center on any kind of media, such as books, television shows, movies, or video games. Whatever fandom you love, we want to read your original story! 

You can submit up to two stories, each with a maximum of 3000 words. Entries should not contain any explicit material and can be submitted as a word document, PDF or JPEG file. The contest is open for 1 month before the Halton Hills FanFest event. The submission deadline is April 15th, 2023. 

Winners will be chosen for three age categories:

  • Grades 4-8
  • Grades 9-12
  • Ages 18+
