Halton Hills Public Library’s Reading Buddies program is new for the 2023 – 2024 school year and can help your child build confidence and cultivate a lifelong love for reading.

This program is free, and open to children in grades 2-6. Each child will be paired with their own volunteer partner at the library for a weekly one-hour reading session from November to March. All participants are treated as individuals with the goal of making reading fun by finding reading material that builds on their personal interests and strengths.

Discovering the joy of reading is the first step to becoming a lifelong learner. The Reading Buddies program is about allowing kids to learn to love reading without the pressure of being in a classroom. Our volunteers will be able to help your child select new books, learn more about their interests and show just how fun reading can be.

Registration for Readers will re-open Fall 2024.

Important dates
  • Registration for Readers: Friday, September 1 – Tuesday, October 10
