Halton Hills Public Library's Reading Buddies program is back for the 2024 – 2025 school year and can help your child build confidence and cultivate a lifelong love for reading.

This program is free, and open to children in grades 2-6. Each child will be paired with their own volunteer partner at the library for a weekly one-hour reading session from November to May. All participants are treated as individuals with the goal of making reading fun by finding reading material that builds on their personal interests and strengths.
Discovering the joy of reading is the first step to becoming a lifelong learner. The Reading Buddies program is about allowing kids to learn to love reading without the pressure of being in a classroom. Our volunteers will be able to help your child select new books, learn more about their interests and show just how fun reading can be.

Reading Buddies - Adult Volunteering

Interested in volunteering for the Reading Buddies program? The Halton Hills Public Library is seeking volunteers who are passionate about reading and working with children. Whether you're a parent, teacher, student, or simply an avid reader, this program offers you a fantastic opportunity to share your passion for books while creating meaningful connections with others. Our volunteers must be willing to commit to complete volunteer training and attending one hour Reading Buddy sessions on a weekly basis from November – March.
