The Creativity Centre is a makerspace where you can create and build your own projects. Try out tools like 3D printers, sewing and embroidery machines, and more. Each branch has a different selection of tools available. You can also use computers to work on photo, audio, and video projects. It's a great place to learn new skills and bring your ideas to life.

You can book a thirty-minute appointment with a staff member for a Creativity Centre tour or a tutorial of the equipment or software. Book an appointment through our Book a Librarian form.

Creativity Centre Hours:

  • Monday: 1:00pm - 8:00pm (Georgetown Only)
  • Tuesday - Thursday: 9:30am - 8:00pm
  • Friday - Saturday: 9:30am - 4:30pm
  • Sunday: 1:00pm - 4:30pm

Technology offered at the Creativity Centre include: 

3D printer
The Cubicon Single Plus 3D printer uses a corn-based fully biodegradable filament and is made from renewable natural resources. The printer has a large 4.3” LCD touch display with USB memory, a HEPA filter that keeps debris and odours from escaping, making it ideal for the Library environment. Sewing and Embroidery

The Creativity Center has the Janome Memory Craft 550E Embroidery machine, the Janome Airthread 2000 Serger, and the Janome 2030DC Sewing machine! Along with these textile technologies the Creativity Center has an iron, an ironing board, cutting mats, two dress form mannequins and all the necessary accessories to make your textile dreams come to life! Machines are available on a first-come, first use basis with a limit of 2 hours per day.

Cricut and Heat Presses

The Cricut Maker is the ultimate smart cutting DIY machine for creating virtually any project on your wish list. Choose from various tools and cut hundreds of materials quickly and accurately, from the most delicate paper to matboard and leather. The Cricut Maker delivers professional level cutting performance and is safe and easy to use.

Use the Cricut EasyPress for applying designs to T-shirts and tote bags, the EasyPress Mini for small or detailed items like hats or sleeves, and the Cricut Mug Press to permanently press your design onto mugs. All heat presses reach up to 400°F (205°C), work with major heat-transfer materials, and deliver professional results in under 60 seconds.

Please bring your own materials to cut and create with, or purchase one of our DIY Cricut Discovery Kits available at the HHPL store! Each Cricut Kit costs $5 and contains a piece of vinyl, a pencil case, and a how-to booklet for creating a personalized pencil case.

Cricut Heat Presses

Design your creation and use the large Cricut EasyPress to iron-on your design onto a T-shirt or tote bag, the Cricut EasyPress Mini to iron smaller designs onto smaller items or to do precise design applications, and the Cricut Mug Press to apply your design permanently to a mug. Please bring your own item to press your creation on.

With adjustable heat up to 400° F (205° C), all Cricut heat presses give you professional iron-on results in 60 seconds or less and are compatible with major brands of heat-transfer material.

iMac Pro

Design and create with photo, video and music editing on the iMac Pro and Creativity Centre desktop computers. You’ll find new, powerful, and updated computers in the Creativity Centre to perform all your tasks. Enjoy these new computers for all your graphic intensive projects.

Product photography

Book a product photography session for your small business at the library. Each session includes a private room with a light box and tripod. Bring your own smartphone or camera to take photos.

To book a session, please complete a Product Photography Request Form. You will be notified within 5 business days about the availability of your request.

Scanners

You can scan many items with our scanners including:

  • Documents
  • Photographs
  • Slides
  • Negatives

Scan and send through email or save files to your USB.

VHS and DVD conversion
Convert your VHS tapes to DVD with our Toshiba DVR. VHS tapes copy over in real time, so be sure to allow yourself enough time to complete the transfer. We cannot convert copyrighted material.
