Something colourful is taking shape at Georgetown Branch!
This week, local artist April Zheng is transforming a wall in our Children's Area into a vibrant new mural designed to spark imagination, creativity, and wonder for the families who visit the library.
If you're visiting the branch over the next several days, you'll have the unique opportunity to watch the artwork come to life in real time as April works her magic. Each day will reveal new details, colours, and clues about the final design.
Can You Guess What's Being Painted?
As the mural takes shape, we're inviting children and families to become mural detectives. Look closely, follow the clues, and see if you can guess what the finished artwork will be before the big reveal!
Share your guesses with library staff or join the conversation on our social media channels: Facebook | Instagram
Temporary Changes to the Children's Area
To ensure everyone's safety while the mural is being installed, the toddler area will be temporarily closed throughout the installation period.
Families are still welcome to enjoy the Children's Area, and when available, the Program Room will be open as an alternative space for little ones to play and explore. You'll also find the board book collection in a temporary location nearby while the mural is being installed.
We appreciate your patience as we make improvements to this much-loved space.
Celebrating Local Creativity
We're thrilled to be partnering with local artist April Zheng on this project. Through her artwork, April is helping us create an even more welcoming and inspiring environment where stories, imagination, and creativity can thrive.
This mural is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance library spaces for children and families and create memorable experiences for everyone who visits.
Follow the Transformation
We'll be sharing progress photos, behind-the-scenes content, and sneak peeks throughout the week on social media.
Be sure to follow along and watch as a blank wall becomes a colourful new addition to the Georgetown Children's Area.
We can't wait to share the finished mural with you!
