More Families, Fewer Barriers: Parents Can Now Borrow Fine-Free

Great news for families! Halton Hills Public Library is expanding fine-free borrowing to include parents and guardians of children aged 17 and under.
Parents and guardians can now enjoy fine-free borrowing on all library materials. This expansion is another step in our ongoing commitment to reducing barriers and making the Library more welcoming and accessible for everyone.
Whether you're borrowing picture books for bedtime, novels for yourself, movies for family movie night, or educational resources to support learning, we want it to be easy for your whole family to enjoy everything we have to offer.
At HHPL, we believe libraries are at their best when everyone feels welcome to use them without hesitation. Expanding fine-free borrowing to parents is another meaningful milestone in our journey toward eliminating overdue fines for all members and ensuring everyone in our community can discover, learn, and connect through the Library.
Parents and guardians often borrow materials for the entire family, and removing overdue fines helps make borrowing simpler and more accessible. As the cost of living continues to rise, it's one more way we're helping families access free books, movies, educational resources, and other library services while supporting literacy, lifelong learning, and community connection.
If you're a parent or guardian of children aged 17 and under, visit any Halton Hills Public Library service desk to have your account updated. Our staff are happy to answer your questions and help you start enjoying fine-free borrowing.
Please remember that library materials are still expected to be returned on time so they're available for everyone to enjoy. You'll continue to receive courtesy reminders before your items are due, and overdue items will still be considered lost and subject to replacement charges in accordance with our borrowing policies.
