Borrow from Another Library
If you are not able to find what you were looking for, we can borrow items from other libraries through Interlibrary Loan. Before requesting a title through Interlibrary Loan, we kindly ask that you check our Library Catalogue. If we have the title that you are looking for, please place a request through our catalogue.
Please note: this service is for borrowing books only and they must be two years old or older. New titles are not available through Interlibrary Loan.
If you wish to request audiovisual items (DVDs, video games or audiobooks on CD), or items in digital formats (ebooks, audiobooks), please fill out our Suggest a Purchase form.
Interlibrary Loan Requests typically take 3 - 6 weeks to arrive but may take longer under certain circumstances. If you wish to cancel a request before it arrives, you can do so through the self-serve system or email illo@haltonhills.ca.
You can only have 10 active requests at any one time.
There are two ways to request items through Interlibrary Loan:
How much does it cost?
-
Interlibrary Loans from other public libraries are usually free of charge.
-
Some libraries, such as university libraries, do charge a fee. If the item you request can only be borrowed from a university, a staff person will let you know the cost before the item is borrowed.
-
Fines will be charged on overdue Interlibrary Loan materials in accordance with Halton Hills Public Library policies.
-
Fees for lost or damaged items borrowed from other libraries are charged to your library card account. The library that lent the item to you determines these fees.
