Silent Book Club
An introvert's dream book club. Come join us for a cozy afternoon of quiet reading followed by a (completely optional!) time to share your thoughts on what you've been reading in an informal environment. Its a great way to recharge and/or make some new friends. Bring a book, a drink, some snacks, and even a cozy blanket.

Book-to-Film Club
Connect with other biblio- and cine-philes at our new “Book-to-Film Club.” Every month we read a classic or contemporary novel then meet to watch and discuss a film adaptation of that book. Join us in the Local History room to discuss casting, plot changes, symbolism, costume design, and whether the old adage that “the book was better” rings true. BYO Popcorn.
Sept 15: This month we will be watching watching Autumn de Wilde’s 2026 take on Jane Austen’s Emma.
Oct 13: This month we will be watching two film adaptations of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein; a 1910 silent film directed J. Searle Dawley, and a 1931 rendition directed by James Whale.
Nov 17: This month we will be watching James Ivory’s 1993 adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s Booker Prize-winning novel, The Remains of the Day.
Fiction Fixation Book Club
A space for those interested in internet culture that goes beyond books. Inspired by BookTok but also expanding to shows, movies, and any online discourse to critique modern culture while fostering community and critical discussion.

Buzzworthy Books and Brews
Join us at the Shepherd’s Crook to discuss a recent, buzz-worthy book in a laidback social setting. Read or listen to the book in preparation, then bring a friend, grab a beer, and settle in to share your hot takes. This quarter’s book is Caro Claire Burke's Yesteryear.

Start Your Own Book-Club
If you would prefer to start your own book club, the library has some resources to get you started. Our Book Club-in-a-bag kits are perfect for friends, families, or community groups looking to start a book club without the hassle of coordinating resources. Our kits include 10 copies of a book, and a discussion guide with background info on the author and book, reviews, icebreaker activities, and discussion questions to get your conversation rolling.
How it works:
Take a look through our collection and choose a title that your group might enjoy.
Fill out a bookclub kit reservation request form. Bookclub kits can be reserved up to a year in advance; helpful for clubs that like to book a few months ahead of time.
Please note that a reservation request is not a guarantee that we will be able to reserve a particular book for a specific date. For some of our new or popular books, there can be a bit of a wait.
Requests are filled on a first come, first served basis and require 5 business days for processing. We will send you a follow-up email with either a booking confirmation OR another title and/or date suggestion.
Holds can be picked up at either the Georgetown or Acton branches.
Book club kits are borrowed as a set and are checked out on one card.
