April 19–25 is National Volunteer Week, a time to recognize and celebrate the individuals who help strengthen our community.
At the Halton Hills Public Library, you play an essential role in supporting programs and services across our branches. In 2025, 120 volunteers contributed 1,475 hours to initiatives such as Reading Buddies, Home Library Service, the Teen Advisory Council, and the Seed Library.
Because of you, HHPL is able to do more for our community. You deliver books to members who cannot visit us in person. You mentor young readers. You help bring programs and events to life. Through your efforts, you strengthen learning opportunities, build meaningful connections, and foster a true sense of belonging in Halton Hills.
Volunteer Spotlight: Carolyn Brown
We are proud to celebrate Carolyn Brown, a recipient of the 2026 Community Development Halton Cheers to Volunteers Award. Selected from 349 nominations across Halton Region and one of three recipients in Halton Hills, Carolyn’s recognition reflects her meaningful contributions to the community.
A longtime library user, Carolyn now volunteers with our Reading Buddies program, helping young readers build confidence and a love of reading.
“The library continues to be a priceless resource for my own family and for the community at large.”
